Here we are after lunch and listening to Neal sharing his experiences on managing your online reputation.
The message is that if you live by social media, you can die by social media. An interesting comment I think.
Neal goes on to say that when you are blogging, twittering and want to get good traffic to your website then by being funny, controversial and provocative, you can go viral. But be careful as one person’s sense of humour can be another’s annoyance.
One must be prepared and ready to respond.
The lesson here is that one should have a social media policy for your company to approve content that is blogged about.
As with this blog our aim is to provide business owners and WSI Internet Consultants with information on how they can use the Internet to create an online brand, do lead generation and maintain your client & prospect relationships.
Neal shares this YouTube video of Perry Belcher on social media marketing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWNQn1fZ2a8 It is a good example of how you should be creating content that builds credibility for you.
If you are unsure of what needs to be in your social media policy feel free to contact us and we can help you.

We are on to our second session and things are just warming up here at WSI Excellence & Innovation conference. Marvin is our Sales coach at WSI and he has helped many Internet Consultants who have bought a franchise.
Marvin makes a clear message that if we don’t focus on cross selling and up-selling to our clients, our competitors will.
Some great stats:
- 88% of all customers value you more if you make suggestions on other services
- 73% are interested in learning more about the services and products that you can offer them
- 62% of customers ask for more products and services
- 42% of customers bought more than they expected to
There is no easier sale than to up-sell & cross sell and yet many ICs don’t take advantage of it.
He used “by the way” example, call your customer and say “by the way we have just introduced a new service that you might be interested in”. An interesting point Marvin makes is that a dissatisfied customer would be more likely to buy from you than a new prospect and this is due to the relationship that you have.
There are 3 ways to up-sell:
- sell more of what your customers have bought
- sell complementary products and services
- introduce non complementary products or services such as credit card processing
What is your prospect thinking:
- Am I satisfied with the current product?
- Is it worth it?
Here are 3 goals that ICs should set for themselves:
- Survivor level: 1 sale per month can get you $48,000
- Great success: 2 sales per month can get you $96,000 p.a.
- Super star: 4 sales per month for $192,000 p.a.
Make your up-sell immediately that a client is ready, don’t wait.
Thanks Marvin for a great presentation. I can’t stress enough the value of attending our E&I conferences .
I suggest that you download his presentation as there are so many other valuable points that Marvin made.
Every WSI Internet Consultant must mark their calendars to attend this annual event. Use our great network and it will work for you. This is a great business opportunity that we are in.
If you are interested in a WSI Franchise, give me a call and I will introduce you to an exciting opportunity.

I am en route to the WSI Excellence & Innovation conference in Orlando and have used this travel opportunity to stop over at Ronnie Adelman’s WSI Franchise in St Louis Missouri.
Keith Klamer recently bought a WSI Internet Marketing franchise and I was interested to hear from him about his initial experiences with starting his business, as he first worked for Ronnie as an Internet Marketing Consultant in a sales role.
I have been mentoring Keith for the past 5 months and have been extremely impressed with his ability to get qualified leads through his own telemarketing. One thing about Keith, he is not afraid to pick up that phone and call up to 20 prospects every day.
He sets a great example for other WSI Internet Consultants and has offered to help them with their lead generation.
Keith was kind enough to let me interview him and provide answers to my questions of which will help anyone in this exciting business.

At the moment I am on my way to the WSI Excellence and Innovation conference in Orlando which starts on the 28th September.
I always look forward to these events as it gives me the opportunity to leverage off the WSI network. Meeting with the other consultants every year is like meeting up with family at Christmas. This is what I love about this business.
On this trip I stopped off at St Louis to spend a few days with a great friend of mine, Ronnie Adelman. I met Ronnie at my first E&I some 3 years ago and asked him to be my mentor and I have never looked back. I have followed Ronnie’s advice carefully and in the last year my business has really flourished and I am now consistently making the top 25 performers in the WSI network. I am really proud of this and have proved that it is possible to not only make a success of this business, but also to compete effectively in the first world.
This evening we are sitting on Ronnie’s boat, a 70ft Hateras called KarryAnne. This boat has been Ronnie’s dream for many years and he has finally realized it.
So while we are sipping sundowners I asked Ronnie if he wouldn’t mind sharing some of his WSI business experiences with us as he has so much to offer.
Well as usual Ronnie obliged and we spent 20 minutes discussing a number of topics which you can listen to at this link.

I am at the airport on my way to Orlando, via London. It’s going to be a long trip, some 29 hours.
I am looking forward to the WSI E&I Conference and are quite excited about presenting on day 2. My presentation covers how one can leverage off social media when doing search engine optimization.
I am big into “Content Marketing” as an advanced way of search engine optimization. We have achieved some great results with content marketing. Many of our clients let us add between 2 & 4 web pages a month of relevant content. These pages attract many thousands of long tail searches and most of the searches are niche focused.
My presentation looks at how one can optimize web content on social media sites like, YouTube, Squidoo, Hub Pages, Scribd, Slideshare and Linkedin & Facebook for profiles.
I will let you know how the presentation goes and provide a download of the slides after the event.
