Facebook Ads are perhaps the best form of online advertising around today. Why is that? Facebook has over 2 billion users around the world, and because Facebook collects so much data from these users, including you and me, you can leverage that data to reach potential customers.
The key is to run targeted ads on Facebook. And, you can do that by building custom ads through the Facebook Ads Manager platform. There are a couple things you can do to achieve this:
If you have a CRM or an email list of any kind, you can import that data into Facebook. Whenever you run ads (even if your ad budget is as little as R100 or R200), you can ensure that the ads you run are seen by the right audience. The biggest mistake that marketers make is throwing money at Facebook without running targeted ads.
If you are a real estate agent, for example, consider targeting first-time home buyers or people who have enquired about properties. You have the data at your fingertips, so use it wisely.
Are you buying clicks, engagement, views or leads? Make sure your ads are not only targeted at the right audience, but also that the ads speak to your objective. If you are spending money on Facebook ads, you should not just throw your money away to get views or comments on a video. Have a clear objective in mind. What you want are buyers. So, make sure your objective is tailored to what your end game is.

Let’s face it, Twitter and Instagram provide users with a lot of data and easy access to reach people. You can go on Twitter right now, type in any search phrase, any business or any company that you want to work with and find them.
If you are a creator or an influencer that wants to work with Under Armour, for example, you can put these keywords in the search box on Twitter, click ‘People’, and see anyone who as “@Underarmour” in their bio. The same thing applies to Instagram.
You can also run searches for hashtags to find people who are speaking about specific topics. If you are an SEO expert, you can type in #SEOhelp and see anyone who is talking about this particular topic, swoop in, and offer to help them out. That is the power of using Twitter and Instagram for search.
Make Your Content Travel Further On Social Media Sites
Going forward, make sure that as you are building content on these platforms, that you are also using these platforms as search engines. Creating content takes a lot of time. Not only do you have to research what you want to write about, but you have to draft content, proof it, upload it and distribute it. Make it travel even further by finding your tribe on Twitter and Instagram.

Think you are a pro at LinkedIn networking? Here are a few hacks and tips that you might not be aware of:
You don’t need to connect with everyone. When you share the post’s public URL, they will be taken to a short excerpt and photo of your blog post. On the left-hand side of the excerpt, your photo and a follow button will appear. This way, you won’t be asking everyone to necessarily connect with you on LinkedIn (which may be a big ask for some), but you are giving people quick and easy access to your follow button, which will keep your brand in front of their eyes in future.
- Right Click Is Your Friend
If you have a long list of potential connections, they will be displayed with a photo and a headline underneath each other. To keep your search list intact, right click on the name so that it opens in a new search bar. Doing this means you can flick back and forth between tabs instead of opening new profiles and having to go back to find your original search list.
- Manage Your Invites From The Manage Invites Page
Under the “My Network” button, you will find your LinkedIn invites. You will see a list of people with Ignore/Accept next to their names. Once again, you can right click on their names so that their profiles open in a new tab. Review their profiles before deciding whether you want to accept or ignore.
- Withdraw Invites Not Accepted After 30 Days
If you go to “My Network” and click on “Manage All”, you will see the invites you have received. Next to the ‘received’ list, you will see a ‘sent’ list. This will show you a list of invitations you have sent out that have not been accepted yet. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you may find invites that you sent out over a month ago that have not been accepted. Consider withdrawing the invite by clicking on the ‘withdraw’ button next to their name. You can also use the little checkbox next to their profiles to withdraw multiple invites at the same time.

If you are a small to medium-sized business just starting out with mobile marketing, you will probably find the sheer volume of information available online mind-boggling. To streamline your approach, our digital marketing company has created four clear best practices for your business:
Making customers feel secure about your communications is an essential starting point. The vast majority of people are annoyed to receive messages from senders they have not approved (just think about how ticked off you get when you receive unsolicited spam from companies). The best engagement will come from simply asking your customers for their consent.
Mobile marketing evokes negative sentiment. For starters, you need to understand the reasoning behind this. According to statistics from digital security company Gemalto, annual survey respondents had the following to say:
- 77% said they received an offer that was not in line with their interests,
- 75% said it was difficult to opt out of the communication, and
- 80% felt that the benefit they received was not attractive.
Customers can be divided into four categories:
Marketing Immune
27% belong to the category marketing immune with no interest in the benefits offered by mobile messages,
Easy Going
27% belong to the category easy going with no need to be in control but with limited impact on purchases,
Control Freaks
29% belong to the category control freaks who need to be in control of incoming messages and remain interested in mobile marketing, and
Connected Marketing Lovers
18% belong to the category connected marketing lovers who are interested in promotions or other benefits and do not need to be in control.
It should, therefore, be clear that the segmentation of customers will ensure a more effective approach.
Send the right message to the right person at the right moment. Over half of the people surveyed were happy to receive certain types of messages when relevant, and 52% said they would take advantage of an immediate discount.

For the purpose of this blog post, we are not referring to the maps or other items in the top of Google’s search results. We are discussing how to compete for organic space in the top ten blue links on page one of Google’s search results with local pages.
By ‘local pages’, we mean pages by a national or international business that are location specific. An example of this would be Indeed.com, who has location specific pages for Seattle, NYC, and other cities in America. Indeed.com doesn’t have a brick and mortar premises in these areas, but they do have pages that are optimised for these areas to improve their position in SERPs. So, what do you need to compete for local SERPs? Here are some of the things you can do:
- The location in the URL
- The location in the domain name
- A local page
- In the title of the page
- In the body content
- Use link building
- Ensure your name, address and phone number is consistent on every page it is listed on
- Add or claim your Google My Business Listing
- Manage your image and video rankings
Organic search results remain substantial source of clicks. According to recent research, only about 1.4 percent of local businesses, with a verified Google My Business listing, respond to reviews left about their business. Even less liked a Google review but ultimately didn’t even respond to the review.
