Big brother is watching. Every click, view, and sign-up made on the internet are recorded somewhere. This data gives us valuable insight into the performance of various networks for your 2017 social media marketing strategy. Looking at these figures never fails to be astounding:

  • Facebook has 1.59 billion active users (representing an 18% market share which is a full 7% more than its closest competitor, the Facebook-owned, WhatsApp.)
  • Social media users have risen by 176 million in the last year
  • One million new active mobile social users are added every day, in other words, twelve each second.
  • Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp handle 60 billion messages a day.

Quality beats quantity

It is tempting to immediately check the figures on networks such as LinkedIn (100 million active users) and Twitter (320 million) and shrug them off as “too quiet.” As with all digital marketing, though, it is more important to have your message heard by the right audience than it is to have a large audience of uninterested people. Popular by the numbers are QQ, WeChat, and Qzone – all with over 600 million active users. However, unless your business is APAC oriented, these prevalent platforms are not necessarily where you should be concentrating your social media marketing efforts.

New social platforms

While new social media platforms pop up almost daily, not all of them stand the test of time: despite its popularity, Vine enjoyed 200 million monthly visitors, yet it shut down. The best way to maximize your ROI when it comes to choosing which of the latest trends to follow is to test, measure, and tweak.

We can help your business to be found anywhere, at any time through content marketing, SEO, digital marketing strategy, link building, PPC, and online advertising, For more information, please contact the team at WSI OMS today.
