Influencer marketing is “the strategy of establishing relationships with influential people who can amplify and expand visibility for your brand’s products and services.” In terms of social media marketing, it is simply finding people with massive followings on a social media platform and getting them to promote your brand. A recent Nielsen report revealed that 84% of consumers will take action based on the reviews and recommendations of trusted sources above all other forms of advertising.

So it’s good-old-fashioned word-of-mouth advertising for the 21st century.  It can be compared to product placement in television which has largely replaced commercial breaks; on social media platforms, influencer marketing does not interrupt content and is seamlessly integrated.

Who should I use?

There has been a shift from celebrities and popular bloggers to ordinary people who happen to have large followings. But an influencer could also mean a respected source on a particular topic.

Identifying suitable influencers can be tricky. It is important that the person can align themselves with your brand and will not be damaging to it. Getting the influencer on board will require them to do some homework too. The influencer must be aware of your strategy and your products and schedules.

Choose the right influencer based also on the social platform you wish to target or choose someone who is already talking about your brand positively. The right fit is the most important aspect of influencer marketing.

User-generated content

There is tons of great content out there that doesn’t get the exposure it deserves. If you have brand devotees who are authentically raving about (or even just exposing your product in a good light), take advantage of that.  Share this user-generated content through a branded hashtag or on any of your social media platforms and even your website.

Instead of bombarding your audience with ads, maybe it’s time to look towards influencer marketing. For assistance on this topic and more, get in touch with leading global Internet marketing franchise.
