Link popularity is still one of the most important factors when you are optimizing your website.  If no one knows about your website, no one will find you.  Links can be obtained from submitting your website to business and social networking directories, reciprocal linking, articles, video blogging (vlog), blogging, forums and social bookmarking.

When building your links, be sure to add keywords in the link that is relevant to the content of the page it is linking to.  This will help the search engines on how relevant your links are.

Link Relevance:
The relevance of the links coming to your website also shows how relevant your website is and this plays a big role in the Search Engines.  Relevant sites with relevant content shows that you have the right information for your visitors.

Keywords and Titles:
Insert relevant keywords in the meta and title tags of your webpages that is most relevant to the content found on the page. Take note to not add to many keywords or un-relevant keywords.  One good keyword is better than 10 un-relevant keywords.

You must also use your top keyword terms within the content of your web site.  Certain key phrases can show tremendous growth by having the exact phrase within the content of your site itself.  Search engines loves unique content that is relevant.

The length of your titles should not exceed 65 characters including the spaces. Use keyword phrases in your title tag describing the content of the page. Take care that the title looks natural and don’t over keyword stuff the title. Use your brand, company name at the end of the title.  This helps search engines linking your name to the content found on the page.  The easiest method to do this is by adding your title description and at the end before your company name, add a “|” (pipe symbol) to separate the title description and your name.

Meta Description:
Add a meta description on the page that describes the most relevant content on the page.  The meta description is the text found under the link on a search result page describing the content found on the page.  Most search engines uses a maximum of 160 characters for the description so don’t use more.

Anchor Text:
On the links found on your website, be sure to add good quality anchor text to them.  Anchor text is the actual text that is clickable within a link.  Don’t use more than 3-5 words on the anchor text links. Bolding these links also helps distinguishing if the content is important or not.

Domain Age:
Your website domain age is something search engines have placed great emphasis on. The rule is, the longer your website has been online, the more trusted your website will be to the people visiting your website.
